Mass Times

The holy sacrifice of the Mass is the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith. (Lumen Gentium 11)  From the celebration of Christ’s sacrifice, Christian’s are enlivened to carry out their faith in daily life. Our celebration of the Mass is the true worship to Almighty God. Jesus said, “God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”  (John 4:24)  God’s presence in the Word is Spirit, his real presence in the Sacred Host at Holy Eucharist is Truth.

The church upholds as a sacred precept the obligation to attend Mass on all Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.  Our Lord commands us to “Keep Holy the Sabbath Day”, and there is no more perfect way to keep that day holy than to worship God in Spirit and in Truth at Holy Mass.  Those who willingly and knowingly omit the attendance at Holy Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation without a serious reason committ a grave sin.  (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2181)  The obligation to attend mass is satisfied by mass either on the Sunday or Holy Day itself or on the evening prior to the Sunday or Holy Day.  Those who have willfully omitted a mass of obligation are called to return to the sacraments first by making a good confession prior to receiving Holy Communion.
